What is Pregnancy Hand Pain?
Hand pain, numbness, tingling or burning experienced during pregnancy is nearly always associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. During the second and third trimester of pregnancy, a buildup of fluid in the hands and feet can occur called edema.
This extra pressure in the hands can compress the median nerve leading to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome affecting your thumb, index finger, middle finger and the side of your ring finger nearest to your thumb or you may experience these symptoms in your whole hand.
Symptoms of Pregnancy Hand Pain/Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Symptoms of Pregnancy Hand Pain typically mirror those of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and include the following:
- Numbness or tingling sensation in the hands (one or both)
