Pedro J. Loredo, M.D. III

Introducing Dr. Pedro J. Loredo III, a trailblazing hand surgeon rooted in Dallas, where he grew up in a dedicated working-class family. Achieving Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America, set the stage for his relentless pursuit of excellence. Dr. Loredo was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Biology from the University of North Texas, where he was deeply involved in student government and athletics. Dr. Loredo’s journey into medicine began as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), igniting a passion that led him to the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston. Here, he worked closely with esteemed burn care experts Dr. David Herndon and Dr. Steven Wolf as a burn research fellow, diving into groundbreaking medical research. His residency at St. John Hospital Medical Center in Detroit introduced him to minimally invasive surgical techniques under the mentorship of Dr. Hawasli, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery. Specializing further, Dr. Loredo completed his Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery, under the tutelage of Dr. Harold Kleinert. Today, Dr. Loredo is renowned for his expertise in minimally invasive hand surgery techniques, including endoscopic carpal tunnel release, minimally invasive cubital tunnel syndrome treatment, and wrist joint arthroscopy surgery. His approach minimizes patient discomfort and speeds recovery, making him a sought-after specialist for those suffering from complex upper extremity issues. Board-certified in General Surgery and Hand Surgery, Dr. Loredo balances his professional achievements with a rich family life. He and his wife, a Gynecological surgeon and Functional medicine physician, are proud parents of five children. An active community member, Dr. Loredo enjoys CrossFit, hunting, golfing, and is involved in various church and community activities, advocating passionately for children with special needs. Microvascular Surgery Training

Dr. Loredo received his training in Microvascular Surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute.

Microvascular Surgery is performed to reconnect tiny blood vessels or nerves which are only 3 to 5 millimeters in diameter. This technique is used in reconstructive surgery as well as to restore circulation to amputated parts of the body (such as fingers) before the tissue starts to die. Specialized instruments are used such as an operating room microscope, tiny needles and ultrafine sutures.

Teaching

Dr. Loredo enjoys the opportunity to work with students who are interested in pursuing careers within the medical field and strongly believes in educating students on raising the standards of the surgical practice while improving the quality of patient care. He is able to do this through providing internship placement for students of Carroll Medical Academy and Southlake Texas High School and through hands-on training for surgical technicians from Brown Mackie College and Concorde Career Institute.

Veteran and Military Support

Dr. Loredo's father, Pedro V. Loredo Jr., served in the Vietnam War as a Green Beret and Ranger in the Army Special Forces. During that time, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war for 6 months. Dr. Loredo learned from his father that freedom is not cheap. For this reason, he is very pleased to be able to support Operation Homefront.
